May 2007 Dinner & Auction @ Hilton
Scottsdale Resort & Villas
Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development was
pleased to present City of Phoenix District 6 Councilman
Greg Stanton with the individual Visionary Award, a
follow-up to last year's Inaugural Community Service Award
given to Shirley Agnos. Greg is a champion for all kinds of
youth and human services issues and we were honored to
recognize him in this manner!
Tumbleweed also recognized SRP's committment
to community with a corporate Champion of Hope award. SRP
has been a committed partner with Tumbleweed for many years
sharing the time, talent and treasury of its employees in
providing its greatest resource – its employees who
continuously build stronger communities throughout our state
– and the corporation’s philanthropic resources.
June 2006 Dinner & Auction @ The Phoenix Zoo
Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development
netted over $47,000 through our “What Money Can’t Buy”
safari-themed dinner & auction event held at the Phoenix Zoo
on June 16, 2006. We honored Shirley Agnos, President of
Arizona Town Hall, with our Inaugural Community Service
Award for her outstanding community leadership for over 4
decades. Shirley spearheaded the issue of child
homelessness, signed our first Incorporation papers in 1972
and became our first Board President.
A fun, lively yet casual environment was
created as our guests, table sponsors and hosts,
underwriters, in-kind donors, event and Steering Committee
volunteers and speakers came together in support of
Tumbleweed’s mission while bidding on unique “What Money
Can’t Buy” Live Auction items and some special Silent
Auction donations. However, the canopy that the Phoenix Zoo
setting provided at dusk intimately highlighted the quality
food and service of Personal Touch Catering.
