The Center provides computer and internet access for educational and job search purposes
Workforce Investment Act (WIA):
Provides job and educational services for individuals ages 14-21.
Career, and basic skills (TABE) assessments are used in helping youth identify strengths. Career Specialists encourage youth to excel in their educational and career goals by providing paid internships, job training, and financial support for these endeavors including college! Eligibility requirements include: social security card, birth certificate and/or state identification and being without a permanent place to call home.
Family Builders:
Families are referred by Child Protective Services (CPS) to help facilitate family preservation and stabilization.
Supported Transitional Apartments, Resources, and Training (START):
Population served: up to 9 youth, ages 18 to 22 and accompanying babies/toddlers.
Provides housing subsidy and assistance to homeless youth. The program helps develop independent living skills, subsidizes rent and helps obtain other resources. Youth find their own apartments, in a location convenient to their place of employment.
Homeless Youth Intervention Project (HYIP):
Population served: youth ages 14 to 18.
Case managers seek to stabilize a family or reunify homeless youth with their families and strengthen relationship, or assist the youth in becoming independent and productive when reunification is not appropriate. Both parent and youth have to agree to services.
General Education Equivalency Diploma (GED) Preparation classes:
A basic skills assessment (TABE) is used to provide information regarding strengths and weaknesses of the interested participant’s academic level. This information is then used to formulate an educational plan to help earn a GED. Participants will also be offered to take a GED Preparation exam to give the individual an estimate of how well they will do on the GED.
Tumbleweed Regional H.S.
Tumbleweed is an accredited Arizona State High School. Individuals have the opportunity to earn high school credit or their diploma in a non-traditional classroom setting through the Maricopa County Regional School District.
