Pets
Homeless young people sometimes flee with a favorite pet or acquire one on the streets.
- Their animal friend offers protection, loyalty and companionship when it seems no one else will.
- A bond forms, often so strong that many homeless youth will decline help and housing unless their pet can also be accommodated.
At Tumbleweed we understand the depth of this affection. We know pets suffer the deprivation of homelessness, too. That’s why we can accommodate pets at our Emergency Housing Program, offering shelter and food.
We never encourage or insist that homeless young people part with their “best friend.” When making a donation, please remember that pet food and supplies are also welcome!
