Phoenix AZ  (April 6, 2016 )  Thanks to the generosity of Tumbleweed supporters around Arizona, Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development raised $3,215 during Arizona Gives Day April 5, exceeding the fundraising goal of $2,500.

“It inspires all of us to witness the compassion and caring our community has for homeless youth,” said CEO Cynthia Schuler.  “We are looking forward to putting these donations to immediate use for urgent needs we have in places like our Emergency Housing Program and our Youth Resource Centers.”

Arizona Gives Day featured a unique partnership with Urban Cookies Bakeshop in Phoenix, which donated a percentage of proceeds of sales of its unqiue churro cupcakes, a customer favorite. “Urban Cookies told us they sold as many as they could make, around 300,” Schuler adds. “We just love their support, and their cupcakes!”

Arizona Gives Day followed a historic weekend for Tumbleweed as the organization celebrated its 10th Annual Gala at the Hilton Pointe Tapatio Cliffs Resort April 2.  That event raised tens of thousands of dollars to assist homeless youth around the Valley.

“You can feel the momentum,” Schuler adds. “The Valley is really getting behind the need to assist homeless and vulnerable youth, and help them reach independent adulthood. It is very gratifying.”
